Valuable information related to your travel plans is available by checking out the Country Information section on the Bureau of Consular Affairs website.  Among the information that is provided, it will list if vaccinations or visas are needed, passport validity, and the location of the embassy or consulate.

You can also decide to sign up for Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and receive the latest security updates for your destination from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.  The information you provide can also be used to contact you in case of emergency.

Passport Application

When applying for a passport for the first time, you must apply in person using form DS-11.  When renewing your passport, you may renew it by mail using form DS-82, as long as you meet all 5 requirements.  All forms and additional information can be found here.

You should allow up to 8 weeks to receive your passport.  Expedited processing can be done within 2-3 weeks for an additional fee.  Below are the Application and Execution fees for routine processing.
